Leading with His Chin

So Kaleb had a bit of a rough start.

Everything was supposed to go so well. It was going to be easy. Kaleb was all lined up; he was ready to go. And being a 4 lb pound baby, it was going to take one, maybe two pushes. Then he decided to make things interesting.

Since Kaleb was making his entrance so early, we had to deliver in the operating room just in case. Somewhere between the labor & delivery room and the O.R., Kaleb executed a perfect 180 degree barrel roll. So now he was facing towards Sara's front instead of her back. And he also decided to forgo the traditional, tucked-chin delivery position in favor of a bolder, chin-first pose.

Yes, our 4 lb baby effectively now had the head-size of a good 8 or 10 pounder. And he had the added bonus of slamming his face against Sara's pelvic bone instead of the back of his head.

Which is pretty much why our headstrong little guy came out looking like he had just gone 12 rounds with Muhammad Ali.

Gee, it's completely shocking that our son is already such a stubborn, impatient little sucker! But he's already a lady-killer, too. I mean, he had every single one of the nurses that was on duty that night anxiously awaiting his arrival.

We couldn't have been more excited when we finally got to see our little man.
